This girl is so lucky to have a dad that is willing to stand up for her; going forward, he is going to be the one that she trusts.

Mom throws "first period party" against 12-year-old daughter's wishes, dad sticks up for her and sends everyone home: "She needs to know how not to be ashamed of her body"
When I first got my period, I thought I was having a medical emergency. At 11 years old, I knew what a period was, but I somehow figured I'd be a little older before Aunt Flo came-a-knockin'. I begged my mother to take me to the ER, but she just laughed. After she explained to me what was going on, I felt not only relief, but a sense of self-importance. I was finally on my way to becoming a woman, and in my 11-year-old mind, closer to becoming just like Shakira, my idol at the time.
In our story today, a mom decides to throw her daughter a party to celebrate her very first period. Personally, I would've loved this sort of thing as an opportunity to gloat to my friends over being the first one to menstruate, but every kid is different. The party in question ends up being held against the girl's wishes and is only dispersed when her dad stands up for her. Talk about dad of the year!
